Winter Quarter Information Sessions & Workshops
VentureCat 2021 Info Session

VentureCat, Northwestern’s annual student startup competition, will be held on May 26, 2021 (please note the date change) and applications will open in March. Attend this information session to learn more about eligibility requirements and benefits of the program. Last year we awarded $327,000 in non-dilutive capital to our 25 semifinalist teams, and we look forward to another year of celebrating entrepreneurs at Northwestern!
Business Entity Formation & University IP Policy Overview Session

VentureCat, Northwestern’s annual student startup competition, will be held on May 26, 2021 and applications will open in March. Teams must have a U.S. based registered business entity and its IRS Employer Identification Number (EIN) at the time of application. If you have questions about the business entity formation process, join us for this session with Esther Barron, Director of the Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center (DPELC), and Darren Green, Professor of Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital and Practice and faculty in the DPELC. They will cover commonly asked questions about entity formation and co-founder agreements. Sarah Kamper, Invention Manager at INVO, Northwestern’s Innovation and New Ventures Office, will also present an overview of the University IP policy and steps to ensure you are working in compliance with all guidelines.

Business Entity Formation General Legal Office Hours with Professor Steve Reed

Sign up for a 20-minute session via Zoom with Professor Steve Reed, Clinical Professor of Law and Assistant Director, Donald Pritzker Entrepreneurship Law Center to discuss general questions about business entity formation. Teams must have a U.S. based registered business entity and its IRS Employer Identification Number (EIN) at the time of application to VentureCat.

International Founder Office Hours with Attorney Beata Leja
Friday, February 5, 12:00 – 5:00p CT
Sign up for a 1-hour session via Zoom with Beata Leja, Principal of Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. to discuss questions about your individual situation as an international founder.

Applications are expected to open on Tuesday, March 30 and close on Friday, April 9. Please review the Eligibility Requirements.
Semifinalists are expected to be announced on Monday, April 19.
